I’ve always had a little tension with the word “yes.”

It was as if my yes’s meant that I naturally needed to self-sacrifice.

Because truly, if it were up to me, I’d be a no to a lot of things. Responsibility, requests, needs from others, favors, and even fun things like gatherings, hangouts and parties.

That’s because there was a deep nervous system association to yes and trauma. My yes meant I had to leave myself - essentially, I had to fawn and contort myself to become a yes in a way that was painful.

That happened earlier in my childhood and stuck with me well into being an adult. It was super subtle, but it was there. I could feel it in how my brows furrowed every time someone asked if I wanted to do something spontaneous with them like go to lunch after a yoga class, or if I wanted “XX” during sex, or if I liked pink more than purple.

But then, when I became a business woman, it started translating over to sales. When too many sales receipts started to pour into my inbox, a part of my body would say, “okay, okay, thats enough money for one day.”

When I posted a popular video and my follower count would rise I’d go, “okayyyyyy thats good, thank you.”

It may sound silly, but it was very uncomfortable for me. As if soon, I would need to leave myself to match that energy coming my way. It wasn’t a gift, it was a burden.

Until… I started to practice working with the power of yes in the body (and through my tantric path).

I began to feel myself fall backwards rather than pushing forwards, every time I needed to make decisions that required a yes/no.

I would let the moment take me rather than me “owning” the moment.

I would say yes and create safety in my body consciously through breath, movement and sound.

I would practice saying “yes” in self-pleasure.

And all of a sudden, life started giving me bigger and bolder opportunities for saying yes. The one that happened this year was buying a house. 

That was a YES INITIATION. An Immersion in trusting my gut, let me tell you!

And from that experience, my capacity to hold more energy, be a better teacher and create richer art all stretched.

Saying yes (and no) is easier, clearer and safer - therefore, life has been filling out the capacity with more energy (aka money) + clients. 

Because I’ve done it according to MY YES - nobody else’s (that’s the key).
