I used to stubbornly resist the belief that by changing my thoughts, I could change my life. It always sounded so “woo-woo,” and a bit of a waste of time to be honest.

I would give myself chores, to-dos and assignments, but anything that wasn’t tangible appeared to be a time-drainer.

I had heard about the beauty of meditation, the art of manifestation and the power of the law of attraction. While all of it sounded great, I didn’t make it a priority in my life because it wasn’t “real” enough. It wasn’t something that I could actively do. I would have sooner made a list of 30 goals on a piece of paper that would hang limp on my wall before I would spend 10 minutes listening to a guided meditation.

With that said, I continued to notice the same patterns in my life. I was attracting the same type of relationships. I was attracting more of the stress I so badly wanted to get rid of. My beliefs about money were still a drag.

Something needed to change.

I began to invest more time into the practice of manifestation. It was one of the few things I hadn’t really tried yet, so I thought, why not? I’ll give it a go for 30 days and see what happens.

The results have been nothing less than magical.

One of the areas in my life that needed the most attention was my relationship with money. To some extent, I believe everyone has (or has had) a weird relationship with money. Maybe you’ve been an over-spender, and under-spender, a hoarder, or someone who believes money is either evil, or the end-all-be-all. No matter what your relationship with money looks like, you are not to blame for those beliefs.

Money has been portrayed in a certain light by the media in all different ways, but I’d say for the most part, many of us believe that money is evil. It’s a love-hate relationship, am I right?

But truthfully, money is nothing more than a made-up concept. It’s the beliefs that we have made up about money that contribute to our perception of it. So, what would happen if we learned to undo those perceptions?

I wanted to discover the answer to this question by dedicating time every morning to meditation and manifestation tactics. My particular goal was to change my relationship with money, but you can do these practices with any goal.

Some examples include: changing your relationship with your parents, not caring so much about what others think about you, creating the career of your dreams, having better health, increasing your bank account, loving your body, and many more. Just ask yourself, what in my life doesn’t feel right? What’s been bringing me down time and time again? What change have I been avoiding because it’s too daunting and intimidating to address?

Here are 3 ways you can begin to practice the Law of Attraction:

1. Meditation

As I mentioned before, I began to do guided meditations for the first time when I decided to change my relationship with money. If you want to manifest something in your life, I recommend you start by meditating along with either Bob Proctor or Dr. Wayne Dyer. Both of these gurus have incredible (and free) guided meditations on YouTube that you can listen to for 10-20 minutes in the morning. If you’re new to meditation, start slow. Begin with 5 minutes and work your way up.

Dr. Wayne Dyer has a specific “manifesting” sound meditation, where he guides you to concentrate and meditate on the exact thing you want more of in your life. Bob Proctor has an “abundance” meditation that will produce similar results, but is more catered for those of you that have a scarcity mentality.

Give yourself a goal to do one or both of these for the next 30 days and get really clear on what it is that you want more of in your life. While you’re listening to the meditations, visualize yourself already having what it is that you want. Visualize yourself already having the relationship you crave or the career you desire. See yourself living in the city you want to be in or owning the home you’ve had your eyes on. Create feelings of gratitude as you visualize, before you even have these things. Combining meditation, visualization and gratitude together will put you in a positive space for the entire day, which will accumulate and create more positivity as the days go on.

2. Mantra Writing

There is great power in repetitively reading and writing what it is that you want. While sticky notes on the mirror can be powerful and beneficial reminders, nothing compares to the actual act of writing what it is that you want on repeat. When I decided to change my relationship with money, I wrote the same powerful line over and over again 20 times every morning (credit goes to my coach on this one). Yes, you read that right. Every morning, 20 times over! At first it was challenging, but by the end of the first month, my relationship with money had completely transformed, I was creating more income than ever before and I was able to serve people on a greater level.

Here’s the honest truth: thoughts lead to emotions, emotions lead to beliefs, beliefs lead to actions and actions lead to results. By putting more time into changing my thoughts (by writing out what I wanted to believe) I directly changed the results I was experiencing in my life. Create a powerful mantra specifically about what it is that you want in your life, and make the commitment to write it over and over every morning. Say it out loud a few times a day, and carry this reminder around with you in your book bag or have it as your phone’s wallpaper. Make this mantra available to you everywhere you look.

3. Become What You Want

I am in love with the phrase, “As you pray, move your feet.” It is absolutely possible to not obsess over having control over everything in your life, but still doing what you want to move into the direction you desire.

If you want a relationship that’s supportive, healthy, and creative, you should ask yourself… are you being supportive, healthy and creative?

If you want to think about success, joy, abundance and happiness when you think about money, you should ask yourself…are you speaking and thinking about money in terms of success, joy, abundance, and happiness?

Where in your life are you not matching up with what it is that you want?

Be aware of how you’re not supporting your goals, and begin to make subtle shifts to be the thing it is that you want. Take responsibility for your actions as you manifest your heart’s desires so that you truly embody the result you want. You really do have the power to create what it is that you want if you put in the time and effort.

If you’re thinking that all this is really “woo-woo”, well maybe it is. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. If you dedicate just 30 days to manifesting what it is that you want instead of taking the typical route of “do, do, do”, you’ll be able to feel a shift. I recommend going beyond a month but if you’re skeptical start slow and give it your all.
